Compress a photo and compare its file size

Compress photos to JPG or WebP in your browser. Adjust quality and maximum dimensions, compare the prepared file size, and download without uploading your image.

  1. Choose a JPG, PNG, WebP or browser-decodable AVIF image up to 25 MB.
  2. Select JPG or WebP, adjust quality, and optionally reduce the maximum edge. Compression never enlarges the image.
  3. Prepare the image, compare its file size and preview, then download the result.

What you can make

Prepare a smaller photo for sharing by lowering quality or the longest edge. Check the actual prepared file size: a new encoding is not guaranteed to be smaller or meet a target KB limit.

Your photo stays on your device

The editor runs in your browser. YatteMite does not upload or store the photo you choose, and you do not need an account.

A cleaner result in less time

  • Lower quality gradually and inspect fine detail before downloading.
  • Reduce the longest edge when the destination does not need the original resolution.
  • Outputs are limited to 4096 pixels per edge and 16 megapixels; larger originals are reduced.

Free downloads and the Creator Pass

Your first 5 unique image exports in this browser are watermark-free. Downloading the exact same result again does not use another clean export, and demos do not use this allowance. After that, you can keep exporting for free with a watermark, or buy a Creator Pass for clean exports. Keep your originals: this is not a saved-project service.

Common questions

Can I compress to an exact file size?

No. The final size depends on the image, dimensions, format and quality. Compare the actual prepared bytes and adjust again; the result can be larger than the original.

Does compression keep transparency?

WebP keeps transparent areas when supported by the browser. JPG replaces transparency with white. Animation is not preserved; the output is a still image.
